The origins of Brownstown...
Our township takes it's name from Adam Brown and the Wyandot Indians.
Taken captive as an eight year old, Adam Brown grew to manhood as a member of the Wyandot Indians and became tribal leader of the Deer Clan of the Wyandot Tribe.
The Tribal village was located at various locations between the Huron River and what is now Brownstown Creek
When the Township was formed in 1827 it was given the name Brownstown Township.
